The New Jersey VRT program, or the Veteran Response Team program, is a statewide initiative that provides specialized training to law enforcement officers and other first responders on how to better respond to veterans in crisis. The program was created in 2022 by the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (NJDMAVA) in partnership with the CIT-NJ Center of Excellence Program.

The training is two days long and includes classroom instruction, role-playing exercises, and site visits to mental health facilities.
