DESCRIPTION:CIT-NJ is offering a 8hr course for Telecommunicators April 3\, 2025 in Bergen County\, NJ. This is approved by CIT staff & the State of NJ 9-1-1 Office of Emergency Telecommunications for 8 CTE’S.\nThe course is an effort to improve collaboration within the CIT-NJ program and build partnerships with police\, mental health\, & family members who’s loved one experiences a mental health crisis. COST is $125\n(We accept purchase orders\, check or cash payments)\nIf paying via purchase order email CIT-NJ Director Edward Dobleman\nedobleman@legacytreatment.org\nThis course will give a Telecommunicators the essential tools and education needed to help a caller in crisis or that may have a mental illness or disability.\nAfter this course you will have a better understanding of how to handle crisis situations and be able to decipher a call and the caller’s needs by knowing the correct questions to ask and how to best communicate with first responders\, and mental health professionals and families/individuals in crisis.\nEXPECTED OUTCOMES OF THIS TRAINING:\n* Introduced to the CIT-NJ Program\n* Learn about State/County resources\n* Gain new active listening skills\n* Recognize a mental health crisis\n* Dispatch the proper resources\n* Learn about mental illness\n* Verbally de-escalate callers\n* Certification and 8 CTE’s\n \nRegister before February 26\, 2025 and\nReceive a free CIT-NJ Bergen County Dispatcher Shirt.\nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER.
